League play picks up in a big way in Conference USA this week, with four C-USA matchups on the docket.
UTSA makes its first trip to Old Dominion, as both teams look to even their records at 2-2. The Roadrunners nearly knocked off Arizona State last week, as Dalton Sturm threw three TD’s and ran for another. ODU senior WR Zach Pascal has caught a pass in 39 consecutive games and has 17 grabs for 223 yards and three scores in the first three outings in 2016.
In-state rivals North Texas and Rice meet in Houston. The Owls have won five straight meetings in the series as they look to break into the win column. The Mean Green are on the road for a second straight week after falling at No. 23 Florida last Saturday.
Louisiana Tech will visit Middle Tennessee in a meeting of two of the league’s top offenses. The Blue Raiders are second in the league with an average of 537.3 yards of total offense, while the Bulldogs are third, averaging 530.0 yards per game.
Southern Miss makes the trip to El Paso, seeking to rebound from its first loss against UTEP. This game features a matchup of C-USA’s top two running backs in rushing yards per game. UTEP’s Aaron Jones leads with a 146.3 yards per game average, just ahead of Southern Miss’ Ito Smith, who is at 144.0 an outing.
Florida Atlantic will welcome Ball State to Schnellenberger field in the two programs' first ever meeting. The Owls are 1-1 all-time against MAC foes. In other non-conference play, No. 3 Louisville visits Marshall, WKU hosts Vanderbilt, FIU welcomes UCF and Charlotte visits Temple.
