The lightest week on the 2013 schedule occurs this Saturday, as just three games and five teams are on the slate. There is one East Division game, one West Division showdown and one non-conference contest, with the three games scattered throughout the day.
Longtime conference rivals Southern Miss and East Carolina will meet in Greenville. This will be the 17th consecutive season that the foes have met in C-USA play and they have played each other every year since 1983, dating back to their days as independents prior to the formation of Conference USA. The Pirates are coming off their first league loss of the year, while the Golden Eagles had a bye last Saturday.
North Texas will visit Louisiana Tech, with teams coming off victories. The Mean Green posted their best defense effort of the season in a 34-7 win over Middle Tennessee last Saturday, while the Bulldogs had their top offensive outing in a 38-35 victory at UTEP two weeks ago.
Rice will step out of league play for a visit to New Mexico State. The Owls will be seeking their fourth consecutive victory and a win would put them within one victory of becoming bowl-eligible for the second straight year.

Pirate QB Shane Carden was 30-of-37 for 308 yards and three scores as ECU made easy work of the Golden Eagles. Conversely, Southern Miss was a woeful 11-of-28 in the passing game themselves.
ECU rattled off three touchdowns within a six minute span before connecting on an 18 yard FG to make it 55-0 after three periods. The Eagles then scored the game's final 14 points in the fourth.

The Mean Green held the Bulldogs to just 37 yards on the ground (1.6 ypc).
La Tech QB Ryan Higgins had a solid game with 285 yards, but was picked twice. He found favorite target Andrew Guillot for a game high 99 yards on 10 catches.

The Owls stay perfect in C-USA play with a commanding win over the Aggies. Tulane and Marshall also hold undefeated marks at 3-0, and 2-0 respectively.
With 18 straight losses, New Mexico State is just nine games away from tying their own NCAA record losing mark of 27 contests - which transpired during the 1998-90 seasons.
