#10 Notre Dame 3, #12 FAU 2

A crowd about 4 times larger than normal(1,603!) showed up to watch an epic game between ranked teams. You can bet it would have been close to 2,000 if not for the FAU basketball game across the street.
Randy Beam and Tom Thornton pitched incredible games and kept the crowd in the game all the way. Randy Beam was lifted for Craig Hughes in the 9th to Matt Edwards who had homered earlier, but sadly the move didnt pay off as Edwards hit another homer to put ND ahead-it was one of only 5 hits for ND. FAU had two runners on in the ninth but couldnt push the tying run across.
Notre Dame had epic celebrations both after Edwards second homer(a little excessive) and after the game that looked like they had just won the World Series. Even a novice fan attending his first FAU game(my father who drove all the way to Boca for the game)remarked that it was obvious Notre Dame respected FAU and played this game with the highest intensity from the size of their celebration. FAU can hold its head high even in defeat-this is the type of game which prepares you for the postseason a lot more than most wins this year ever will. I'm a little concerned with having to play a quality team like Winthrop so soon after such an emotional game-but hopefully we can get to 12-1 tomorrow.

Finding a way to bounce back is improtant, we all know
any type of tournament play, especially regionals is as much mental as is abilities. At least they have some time to get the emotions under control.

Sad to see the winning streak end. I was hoping FIU Would do the honors ;)

Good luck today against Winthrop. I'll be at FIU as they'll be playing Boston College…then on Wednesday, a brand new rivalry begins ;D
