2017 Opening Day

Finally, opening day 2017.  Lots of new faces in the lineup, looking forward to see how they produce.  Entirely new out fielding crew so that's going to be a big ? early in the season.

Anyone have any insight to why Labsen and Stewart are not in the projected weekend starters rotation this weekend.

Both are injured, although Stewart is very minor.

HOWEVER, the top three guys right now are Swan, House and Miednik (new).  Stewart coudl be either 3 or 4 depending how things pan out with the line-up right now and once Labsan is healthy again he could also enter it.

Labsan will DH though in the meantime…

Alex House is the only question Mark has only been a 1-2 inning bullpen guy his 1st couple years.
Lets see how this jump goes because it seems FAU has had trouble with the Friday spot the last couple years.
Read that Miednik has electric SO stuff.

For us to take the next step FAU needs to be better against high end pitching.
The offensive numbers get skewed because of our ability to drop 15 on avg pitching, but we tend to show nothing when we face top end guys in regionals.

I would say we struggle in the regular season in the past against top end pitchers. Probably the majority of our losses came on Fridays last year when we faced the opponent's top pitcher.

Ugh.  Was hoping to hear we were possibly saving them for next week or something.  Never good coming out the gate with our pitching staff already dealing with nagging injuries as minor they are.  Labsen fought a nagging sore shoulder the entire season last year if I remember correctly.

Baseball is a longgggg season. Plenty of time to let nagging soreness mend. Rick..if Mark Stewart is our 3 or 4 guy, we are sitting nice. We have some real quality additions to the team. But as always the success will revolve around the arms of the pitchers. OC was correct about a couple of our guys having limited innings . But arms need to develop as guys get older bigger and stronger. Some are obviously ready straight out of high school. Others take a bit of time. We have the best coach in the state. He will have this team ready. Can't wait to see Kevin Abraham in uniform.

OC….you do have knowledge of different sports. You are right on on the statement about our performance vs #1 pitchers. All our stats are padded vs #2  ,#3, and relievers. If we can get to the bull pen early, we should win. I can't wait to see Meidnik throw. Heard he is pretty good.
