Mickey Storey saved the day for FAU with another great pitching performance leading FAU to the 3-1 win. FAU goes to 37-23 with the win and plays an elimination game Sunday at 3pm against Mississippi State. If we manage to take them out its Miami at 7pm.
There was a lot of question about the decision not to lose Storey in Game 1 against Miss. State. I stayed for the UM-Miss.State game tonight and let me tell you even if we'd used STorey in Game 1 and won ,we'd have lost to UM and been 1-1 anyways. Cesar Carrillo is the best there is and there was no way the Canes were going to let his final home start end in a loss(they had all the Mark Light magic working tonight)-he would have bested Salberg easily. So it really didnt matter that Cooney didnt use Storey after all in Game 1.
The optimistic view for tomorrow is Miss. State has used all their good pitchers so hopefully our hitters can come alive and outslug them tomorrow. UM has no one good pitching wise left either so you never know. Were gonna need more than the 2 and 3 runs weve scored int he first two games-lets pray our hitting comes alive!
Best of all today Stetson got eliminated in two straight games so FAU is the final surviving ASUN team this year!

Too bad about Stetson….NOT! I hate those guys, but I'll save that for a smack board.
Storey was his usual, impressive self. A Storey/Carrillo match-up would have been a sight to see, but I guess it won't happen since Carrillo's a Jr.
I can only assume VCU's Keyes pulled Leonard because of his pitch count since he was equally impressive.
It would be sweet if we could eliminate MSU, but you're right about the need for our bats to come alive.
Incidently, I believe congrats are in order to McBryde for the new hit record??

When I first heard Cooney was going with Storey, I was concerned, but with our bats the way they are, I think he realized he HAD to go with Storey because he knew we weren't going to score more than 3 or 4 runs.

We need to score at least eight runs to win today against MSU I think….you never know which Crotta is gonna show up. If we do end up winning, who the hell do we throw in the late game?
