FAU's Mike Gipson has been named the Sun Belt Conference (SBC) “Pitcher of the Week” for his performance over the weekend against Arkansas State University.

The right-handed starter went the distance in Saturday’s 8-0 victory and twirled his second complete game shutout of the season.

Gipson (7-1) allowed only two hits with three walks and seven strikeouts in the dominating performance.  The West Palm Beach native got stronger as the game went along and retired the final 14 batters of the game en route to the victory.

The Palm Beach Central High School alumnus becomes the second FAU player this season to garner “Player/Pitcher of the Week” honors from the SBC, as Nick Delguidice won the award back on March 9 for his outstanding performance in a weekend series against Boston College that saw him break an FAU single-game record with 9 RBI.
