Notes

Junior Stephen Kerr (photo above) was named the Conference USA Hitter of the Week after going .538 at Middle Tennessee with four runs, three RBI and an on-base percentage of .625. Kerr reached base to lead off each game.

Florida extended its winning streak to 15 games by taking the first of three meetings in the Sunshine Showdown with No. 11 Florida State (6-0) and sweeping Missouri to open SEC action.

The Gators are 16-0 at home and have a 23-game winning streak at stake, which is just one shy of the record of 24 set during the 2010-11 campaign.

FAU knocked off UF in their last regular-season meeting in Gainesville, stealing home in the top of the 11th for the win on April 1, 2014.

Kerr continues where he left off - BANG.

Solo homer puts FAU up 1-0 in the game's first at bat.

However, the Gators earn an RBI triple in the 2nd and see the batter come in off a throwing error.

Tough one to swallow, but if this Team does not make a Regional, would be absolutely SHOCKED.

Great game. Owls get nothing but respect from UF. Tough loss. One question, what was up with the home plate ump on the two calls against Jose BT. Really reading into a couple of calls that are almost never called. Wouldn't have mattered . Just strange. Great job by McCay and all the relievers. Held Florida to four hits and two runs. Unfortunately, UF has the best arms in the nation.

We've lost a lot of tough games to the Gators, unfortunately.

Lost by the same score, 2-1, last year at the Gainesville Regional, actually.

Very polar. Either we're within 1-2 runs of them (2-1, 5-4, etc) or they completely destroy us, like in the 2010 Gainesville Regional when we lost 15-0. They also beat us like16-1 once I think.

Hopefully we don't play in the Gainesville Regional again this year.

And they took NO chances, every single time we had a hint of offense - change.

Nice to be able to do that…

On a side note:

This Team has already surprised me…honestly thought it may be a "down" year when we had the injury big hit.

But wow, so far so good!

Rick, I think the arms are the most surprising thing. McCay bounce right back and was solid. Our pen is way deeper then I thought. Maybe I just wasn't aware of how good they were. We are solid. The guys should be relieved to see a team with "normal" pitching next weekend.
