It's Official! Owls Take Game One of ULL Series 6-5

Afer two days worth of inermittent rain delays, FAU finally finished off game one of the ULL series in exciting fashion - escaping with a 6-5 victory.

The Owls were in a good position to get the win Saturday but a second rain delay suspended the game in the bottom of the ninth with the FAU leading 5-3.

This morning, when the game resumed, ULL would fight back in the bottom of ther ninth as FAU pitcher Hugh Adams gave up two runs;  extending the game into extra innings.

But, with the score even at 5-5 in the tenth, Antony Mesa hit clutch two-out single which brought home Tom Hatcher, who had doubled and the Owls retook the lead 6-5.

ULL would load the bases in the bottom of the tenth, but come away with nothing, as Glen Troyanowski struck out Kyle Bostic for the final and game closing out.

“Wow, without a doubt a rollercoaster of emotions,” said FAU head coach John McCormack after the final out. “We hung in there, coming back after a night in the hotel thinking about this one… our guys got back to work – credit (Louisiana-Lafayette) with some good at-bats against (Hugh) Adams – but an important and character building win for this team.”
