FAU came from behind in the 9th inning to complete the series sweep on Sunday.

George Washington struck with their first score in the first inning courtesy of a solo homer, and later added a second in the fourth.

Florida Atlantic (2-1) threatened in the 6th with runners on the base path but could not convert them into scores. However, Kevin Abraham came through the next turn plating Cody Wilson on a sacrifice fly.

They once again had a pair on for the go ahead and game winner in the bottom of the ninth.

Gunnar Lambert was tapped to pinch hit for Abraham, and faced the fourth George Washington pitcher of the day.

With a wild pitch being issued the Owls were 90 feet from the tie. Ultimately, Lambert would pop up behind home plate and FAU was down to their last out.

With the game on the line Diamond Johnson singled into right field and the ball went through the legs of the GWU defender, allowing for the winning run to cross the plate uncontested.

Joe Montes, Tyler Frank, Eric Rivera, and Andru Somerall also posted hits for the afternoon.

Michael Colletti fared moderately well in his first start as on Owl, giving up two runs on eight hits with three strikeouts.

Drew Peden finished out on the hill, tossing the final three frames allowing just one hit with four strikeouts.

The Owls will face Florida on Tuesday night at 6:00 PM in Gainesville.

I don't know folks.  Hopefully this weekend was just an offensive fluke for us.  GW is not a good baseball team.

Yeah I know. Was Just bummed to see us come straight out the box in a lil bit of a batting slumps as a team.  We can get away with it against lesser teams like GW with our pitching and D but it's not gonna fly come Tuesday and against other stiffer competition.

.207

Can't remember the last time we batted that as a team for a series.

Then again, we had 15 walks.

Hard to hit what is not in your zone as a hitter. GW pitchers were "effectively" wild!!!

But we GOTTA make more patient, better choices still!!!! 15 walks sounds decent (5 per game) but we also made 74 outs. Hit the cage guys, UF will NOT be wild but WILL make your chase stuff for outs!!!!!

A little bit more info on GW: Saturday's starter, Raimo, was a 2nd Team Eastern Region All-American last year with a 3.20 ERA, .216 BAA and 73 K. Sunday's starter, Woods, was a JUCO All Regionals 1st team (Texas), with a 2.03 ERA and 88 K. GW is not a slouch, again last year putting up another 30+ win season for the 2nd time in 3 years. Coach Ritchie came in a few years ago, and has done a good job at turning that program around, just as he was instrumental in turning the Pirates around when he was their hitting coach and before that their minor league hitting coordinator. Don't be surprised if he has GW in the NCAA tournament in the next couple years. They may not yet be a great team, but they are a good team.
