Re: Owls in Summer Leagues
Raymond Church was selected as the Shenandoah Valley League's "Hitter of the Day" after a 4-for-5, two run, three RBI, and home run showing on Saturday when his Winchester team clipped Harrisonburg 7-6.
Of note:
This is a wood-bat league with no ping allowed!
Nice performance!

Re: Owls in Summer Leagues
Despite the three months that have gone by since FAU last threw a pitch during the 2010 season, the Owls players have been hard at work this summer gearing up for 2011.
R.J. Alvarez put up outstanding numbers as a reliever for the Bourne Braves of the prestigious Cape Cod League. Alvarez appeared in 15 games all out of the bullpen and went 3-2 with a 0.79 ERA.
The rising sophomore finished second on the team in wins and ERA. Alvarez also appeared in the 2010 Cape Cod League All-Star Game at Fenway Park on July 28 and pitched scoreless eighth inning for the West team in a 5-0 victory.
The Braves also clinched the west division title and Alvarez made one appearance in the playoffs, taking the loss and allowing two runs and two hits in two innings pitched.
Andy Mee continued his strong play from the 2010 season this summer playing for the Mat Su Miners of the Alaska League. The versatile outfielder batted .353 with 37 RBI and a 18 doubles. Mee also pitched 12 innings all out of the bullpen and recorded three saves and a 1.50 ERA with a .205 batting average against.
The Palm Beach Gardens native also helped lead the Miners to the Alaska League championship.
Hugh Adams had a stellar summer in the bullpen pitching for the Bethesda Big Train of the Cal Ripken League. The Bethesda native went 1-0 with and did not allow an earned run in seven appearances.
The right-hander struck out 19 and walked only eight in 14.1 innings pitched with a .157 batting average against. Adams also picked up the save in an 11-5 win over the Youses Orioles to put the Big Train in the Cal Ripken League championship game. Bethesda went on to win 8-4 in the title game and clinched their second straight league title.
