Florida Atlantic University baseball players Stephen Kerr and Brendon Sanger have earned All-Conference honors, Conference USA officials announced today.
Kerr (pictured) was named to both the All-Freshman Team and the All-Conference Second Team in his first season in collegiate baseball. Sanger, who led the Owls in batting average for the second consecutive year, was also named Second Team All-Conference. Both players ranked in the top 10 in Conference USA in both batting average and on-base percentage.
Kerr, a freshman from Margate, hit an impressive .324 with a team-high 38 runs and 10 stolen bases. He drew 21 walks while striking out just 16 times in 207 at-bats. Kerr’s 24 extra-base hits led the team, as did his six games with three hits. His 17 game reached-base streak was the longest of any Owl over the season. Kerr started every game at either shortstop or second base.
Sanger, a sophomore from Fort Myers, led FAU with a .332 batting average and led Conference USA in both walks with 35 and on-base percentage at .439. He amassed 20 multiple-hit games and tied for the team lead with three three-RBI outings. His 11-game hitting streak was the second longest on the squad. Sanger was one of five Owls to start every game, making 52 starts in right field and one as a designated hitter.

When you look at the lines for OF, Sanger and Rocklein should have been 1st team. If you did the infield by position rather than stocking up on 3B with the any 4 infielders vote, Chatham should have made 2nd team.Posted On: May 21st 2014, 4:43 PM #331656

We got hosed…but believe a lot of that had to do with the results. If we would have made the tourney, do you think it would have helped the cause?

There are a couple on the all conference teams that I would have been embarrassed to have even nominated. Maybe they got in on due to an abundance of the "tank to opposition that could knock our guys out" vote.
You look at the pitching award winners - we beat them.
