Last time on the diamond, FAU was shut-out by UCF to the tune of 12-0 in a game that was disappointing offensively, but just as much so on the mound as well.
Now, halfway through the Sun Belt slate, the Owls are currently tied with WKU and sit one game back from league leader Troy.
The Red Wolves, paced by senior outfielder Todd Baumgartner's 60 hits and .349 average (2nd SBC), are in a three way tie for last.
Head to head, batting goes the Owls way (+.35 AVG FAU), and pitching is nearly even (-.08 ERA ASU).
FAU's Alex Hudak's .415 batting average is tops in the belt and ranks him 21st nationally.
Nick DelGuidice needs just two more doubles to set a new all-time program mark for two baggers (56, William Block).
Florida Atlantic is thriving off of early starts, posting an 11-2 mark in games where they have scored in the first inning. The Owls are 8-1 on Sundays this season.
FAU leads the all-time series 8-3-1. Last season ASU was swept by the Owls in Boca Raton (2-3, 0-8 and 2-3).

Re: Series Thread - FAU vs ASU: Apr 22-24, 2011
FAU had six straight innings (2 through 7) with the lead off batter reaching, but could not produce anything meaningful aside from the fourth when a two out RBI single by Joey Burkhalter scored Raymond Church (walk) for the games first run.
However, Church committed two errors on the same play later in the bottom of the sixth to set up the Red Wolves with runners on first and third. On the ensuing play ASU tied it up as Logan Uxa crossed the plate on a groundout RBI.
Ryan Garton threw strong through 7 1/3 innings for Florida Atlantic (23-15, 10-6) until Coach McCormack went to the pen in favor of Josh Gonzaga.
It didn’t prove to be a good move as the first batter he faced, Jordan Castaldo, smacked one over the right field wall to give the home team a 2-1 advantage and the deciding run.
The Owls were down to their last three outs in the top of the ninth when Burkhalter (2-of-4) once again got aboard. Colby Graton came on to pinch run and was able to advance to second on a steal after a bad throw by the Red Wolves.
He moved to third on a subsequent ground out as Any Mee approached the plate with the tying running position. But Mee would fly out, preserving the win for ASU.

Burkhalter tripled, driving in Nick DelGuidice for FAU’s first run in the second inning, before scoring on a RBI groundout by Nathan Pittman.
Ahead 2-0, the Owls fell behind in the fourth as ASU plated three runs. But the lead would be short lived for the home team, who couldn't score from thereon.
A Raymond Church single in the fifth inning, which drove in Andy Mee, saw a two inning tie before the Owls added two more runs in the top of the eighth for the win.
FAU relievers Glen Troyanowski, Jake Meiers, and Hugh Adams combined to toss three scoreless innings after starter Paul Davis exited.
Adams picked up his league leading seventh save on the season.
Florida Atlantic will look to take the series in game three tomorrow beginning at 1:00 p.m. EST.

The Red Wolves jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning until the Owls answered in the second, connecting on four of their six hits and a 3-2 advantage of their own.
However, it was short lived, as the home team immediately returned favor with two runs a piece in the bottom half of the 3rd and 4th innings.
A solo insurance run in the 8th capped off the scoring for Arkansas State (19-24, 7-11) who had just nine hits on the afternoon, but made the most of them.
None of the Owls' batters saw more than one hit on the day.
Down to their last three outs, Sean Bukovich led off FAU’s ninth inning with a walk, but Nathan Pittman struck our before Mike Albaladejo was induced into a game ending double play.
R.J. Alvarez (5-3) took the loss for the Owls. Alvarez (4R, 2ER) pitched only three innings before giving way to a trio of relievers in Andy Mee, Josh Gonzaga, and Ahmed Garcia.
FAU resumes action in Boca Raton next Friday night against Sun Belt leader Western Kentucky in an important series that will have ramifications for post season positioning.
