Widlansky Named Player of the Week
Widlansky Named Player of the Week
First Baseman Leads Team with 12 RBI
Feb. 13, 2007
After posting a .440 batting average with 12 RBI, two doubles and a home run in Florida Atlantic University's first six games, Robbie Widlansky earned Sun Belt Conference Player-of-the-Week honors. It is the first honor for FAU in its first season in a new conference. The Owls are off to a 6-0 start after sweeping Mississippi Valley State University and Cincinnati.
Over the course of two weeks, Widlansky also picked up six stolen bases. The junior is off to a hot start after sitting out in 2006 with a hamstring injury. Prior to his injury, he stole 14 bases in 2005..
Against Mississippi Valley State on February 3 he posted a career-high four hits, six RBI and three runs scored. He almost tied his RBI mark again as he tallied five in a 14-13 win over Cincinnati. In that contest he tied the game in the bottom of the ninth inning with a two-run single.
He will guide the team into the Beach Ball Bash at FAU Stadium this weekend featuring LaSalle, Ball State and no. 17 Oklahoma State.
