William Block ineligible for Sun Belt tournament

Thanks to Ted Hutton for reporting this

Bad news.

Not on the bus to Troy for the Belt Baseball Bash is FAU’s all-time leader in RBI, hits, runs, doubles and total bases.

That would be senior second baseman William Block.

Remember how football had to leave three starters behind when they went to Detroit for the MCB? Well, Block apparently didn’t keep his grades up high enough, and is ineligible for the tourney.

He was hitting .337 and topped the Owls with 52 RBI and 9 home runs. That’s a big loss, offensively and defensively for the Owls.

Hate to see seniors end their season this way. LB Andre Clark and kicker Warley Leroy both missed out on the MCB, and now Block misses out on the chance to play in his final Belt tourney and help his team try and win the title and get a regional bid.

Later…

Re: William Block ineligible for Sun Belt tournament

Per a source close to the situation, nothing has been decided at this point and will not be until tommorow night at the Tournament meetings when the cards have to be turned in…

There is still a chance that he will participate in the tournament if he can take care of what he needs to take care of between now and then…..

It's not hard to get a flight from here to Atlanta…and Troy is one hour from there…

Keep the Hope alive!

He's a key contrinutor and we need him there…

1 hour to Troy from Atlanta? No way no how.  3 1/2 hours by car at the very least. At least 45 minutes to a hour from the Montgomery airport.

Re: William Block ineligible for Sun Belt tournament

That's too bad, but i really don't get it.  The NCAA only asks student athletes to maintain a 2.0!  I've noticed since I've been at FAU and have taken some courses with some athletes that it might help if they show up to class regularly or not leave 20 minutes after the lecture has begun!  I'm not saying this is just an FAU problem because we all know what goes on at schools like USC and Oklahoma.  But seriously A 2.0!?!?!?!?!?!  Come on guys….

Re: William Block ineligible for Sun Belt tournament

Is there any update? Did Block do what he had to do to make the tourney?
