there is an article in the sun sentinel today about xavier perkins scoring 2000 points on the season.

Apparently he is a McDonalds All American nominee. This kid must be pretty legit.

Rice
Monroe
Parmer (ex-Providence Player)
Perkins

two more legit signees and will be competitive in legit basketball conference next year.

And one of them needs to be 6'10" or better.

Perkins sounds like a great recruit, but don't forget about Sanchez Hughley too. He's a 3-star propect on scout.com. Sounds like we'll be able to compete right away in the Sun Belt…but a big man is very much needed. The loss of Webb will hurt down low and teams may be even more focused (double teams) on Monroe next season. Jeff Parmer will help but i go to a lot of Providence games here in RI and don't remember him as someone who liked to mix it up a lot. He also only played about 2 minutes per game as a freshman so there wasn't a lot to go on. He does have a great 3 point stroke though. Hopefully another NCAA appearance will bring even an even better class in 2007.

your right about parmer. i have a couple of friends that went there and they said he was descent. started in a bunch of games in a bad season for them. I don't think he's going to be a dominate player but he will be a junior and have played in two full years of collegiate ball. If he was good enough to start in the best conference in the country as a freshman I think he will be able to play well in the sunbelt.

I forgot about sanchez. he and perkins should be a solid back court. I believe there both guards but could be wrong.

I know doherty had his eye on a seven footer but haven't heard anything about that in a few months. We really need a solid and true 6'10" center.

Another good thing about doherty is he's not going to be on the road our entire non-conference schedule. there are plenty of teams that do the trip through florida and he'll pick up a few games.
I know we have a game against Marist next year, hopefully that will be at Madison Square Garden, maybe he'll pickup a game vs. St. Johns too. But most of our non-conference games should be in state. How nice would it be to bring in a solid midmajor like George Washington and beat them at home to start off the season.
