Looks like Angelos will court BYU offering to see if he will officially apply for the AD position there - could big money pull him away from FAU? I get the feeling that BYU will make him an offer that will be hard to refuse ???

If he leaves after such a short time, he would of lost my support and respect.

But then again, money makes people do strange things.

If he gets the BYU opportunity he is gone. BYU has name recognition and is an excellent school both academically and athletically. Most people haven't even heard of FAU. I wouldn't blame him one bit. Not to knock FAU but it is like comparing apples to oranges. BYU is a top job at a top school. GO OWLS!!!

Can't argue with you on that one owlfan1. BYU is more recognizable but some people will take the challenge of building something over picking up on an existing project.
I guess It's all about the personal challenge he may have buring inside of him. If he stays he will indeed know and expect a tough road ahead of him. If he leaves my guess is that It's something other than the building the football program.

If he takes the job we will have to get another AD in place ASAP and keep chugging along. I'm sure that there are some people who would love to work and live in south florida. It would be nice if we can lure away an AD from the Big East.. ;)

If we build a 90 million dollar domed stadium in three years we can be bigger than BYU in the long run. It really is the key to our existence. It will make us or break us. At best will be another North Texas without it.
BYU has a great history, played for national championships in the past but there is no room for growth there. his job would to be keep running a well built ship. The exact opposite of FAU.
He could be at BYU for ten years and in fifty years nobody would remember his name. In fifty years if Angelos, Brogan and Schnelly build the stadium they will be held in the echleon of society in South Florida for building a national power house on the beach. Just like Louisville and Miami look at schnelly right now.

There was a discussion about this awhile back. FAU has a great reputation and future. That and the fact that Craig Angelos is a member of the Church of the Latter Day Saints which is the base religion of Brigham Young University is why I think he's as good as gone.

BYU will definitely look for a reputable person that is a member of the Mormon church. They will not look at a non-Mormon.

I would readily expect him to be headed for BYU.

IMO, you don't make a trip out to BYU if you have little or no interest in the position, Angelos & BYU have had enough time to converse concerning this position. BYU made it attractive enough to warrant an official visit and the fact that Angelos has not filled out an application is so minor - he can accept the job & take care of business in one trip out there. I will agree :o with Blue Raider, Angelos is surely a goner.

Should this be of a concern for FAU, it shouldn't be, as long as we bring in the right person to replace him, that will bring leadership and energy to help continue build this program. Timing sucks, but then when is it ever a good time to lose and AD. I am confident that Brogran has already made plans to compile a list of suitable applicants, so that his position can be filed in a timely matter. Then again I could be wrong.

I nominate myself as a replacement AD and first order of business - anyone interested in the vacant position as a Basketball coach? ;)

Bytor's got my vote just from the last statement on the vancant spot for basketball. But I agree about the fact that Brogen has a short list already. I'm sure they have talked about this and Brogen has had a couple of months to prepare. This surfaced right at the end of the season and who knows how long before that. Hey what will be will be, I would like to see him stay but he is going to make a decision good for him. Either way it will work out for both FAU and D. I'm still casting my vote for Bytor.

Thanks for the vote of support Talon ;DOne all kidding aside - Angelos is still the AD at FAU and until it is anouced other wise. Only he can balance the pros and cons each position brings to the table and will come down to his own ambitions - to build a program or to take a shot at a more establish program, like owlfan1 pointed out earlier with a much bigger paycheck.

Make BYU buy out the remaining of his contract for say 1.6 Mil :o that take care of a few bills.
