At 75, Schnellenberger finding fun in the fight

It is a simple question, and the one that most matters at this stage.

"You still having fun?"

The coach has been talking for 20 minutes as only he does, in a much-mimicked gravelly baritone that gets partial credit for making him one of the signature sports figures in South Florida history. Some questions have required a clearing of the throat, a rummage through the attic, even an aversion of the eyes.

This one? This one does not.

"Oh yeah," Howard Schnellenberger says, smiling.

I like this part of the article the most–when Howard talks about a good time to retire!  I hope he waits at least until we move up to a BCS Conference!

"But there's some, there's some, there would probably be some better times to wrap it up than others," he says. "The opening of a stadium might be a good time. But a better time would be to move the team up to a BCS conference. And better than that would be to win a national championship."

Thanks, Coach, for 11 years of fun that the alumni base never dreamed was possible 14 years ago.

Go Owls!!!
