Autographed Footballs for Owl Club Members

Ted mentioned on his blog yesterday that the team was autographing football for "people who donate $100 to the Owl Club" and I wanted to know if anyone had any clarification this statement.

I know there are some Owl Club members on this board, like myself, and I hope that those balls are for us and not for NEW donors.

Any insight?

Knowing FAU, you'll get a signed softball.

Re: Autographed Footballs for Owl Club Members

I called this afternoon. If you are an existing owl member no dice. You still need to donate 100.00, which will then give you double points as an owl club member. Even though, this is kinda ridiculous and showing no loyalty to existing members, I am still ok with the decision. After thinking about it, my main purpose for giving to the owl club was to support the football team. I did not necessarily sign up for all the free gifts that I could squeeze out of the school. Furthermore, I think their thinking might be, that any person who they get to sign up, might get pulled into signing up again next year. So, if they need to offer some type of incentive to make this happen, then so be it....

Pretty selfish comment from a guy that got recognized in the Palm Beach Post for donating money.  Just to remind you TeemBeer, a donation is something you do and not expet anything in return…a purchase however is the situation I think you are looking for.

Re: Autographed Footballs for Owl Club Members

I made a donation to the Owl Club to support the football stadium. It would have been nice if the donations incorporated all the athletics programs, instead of the pick and choose method.

Depending on the level of your donation…It does.

To add to faudiehard's response, they used to do it the way you mention, but too many people wanted thier gifts to be specific in nature - hence you can now allocate to a specific account that goes directly towards the sport of choice…

or you can simply make a "general contribution" towards the prgram…that goes into a house account that has no ties as to the way the money is spent and can be allocated to that which the admin chooses…
