Eagles' starting DE Parker arrested Wednesday

As far as training camps go, it hasn't exactly been smooth sailing for the Philadelphia Eagles. Veteran defensive end Juqua Parker was arrested early this morning after police found a small amount of marijuana on him, according to The (Allentown, Pa.) Morning Call. Parker was in a van that was being driven by starting left guard Todd Herremans, who was pulled over for a traffic violation.

So far, the Eagles are choosing not to comment on the arrest. Andy Reid gave his players the night off on Tuesday and they had a 1 a.m. ET curfew. The traffic stop happened near the Lehigh University campus at 12:30 a.m., so the players were likely about to call it a night. Parker ended up spending a few hours in the local jail until he was bailed out at 3:40 a.m., according The Morning Call.

The news of Parker's arrest overshadowed the positive news that running back Brian Westbrook stayed after practice Wednesday and ran some routes and participated in normal football activities, such as making some fairly aggressive cuts. From his perch, Daily News beat man Les Bowen thought Westbrook looked pretty comfortable.

Since the beginning of camp, the Eagles have dealt with the death of longtime defensive coordinator Jim Johnson, watched their first-round pick, Jeremy Maclin, hold out for a week and lost starting middle linebacker Stewart Bradley for the season to a knee injury. And now Parker's been busted for pot, although Bowen says it's unlikely that the defensive end will be suspended. I'll see if things have calmed down when I arrive at Eagles camp Sunday.

And if you're just joining us, Parker is the player formerly known as Juqua Thomas. I only screwed that one up once on deadline last season.

I think this is in the wrong category.  There's no mention of Jervonte Jackson in the article.  The title alone is pure speculation.
