Charlie Strong

Howard's loyalty to his coach's and not being able to keep any discipline this team has shown he has lost his touch.
I know its a long shot but i would give my left nut to make Charlie Strong our next head coach write Anglos do what ever you have to do. Letting your voice be heard will bring changes to this program. If you don't say anything coach's that give up 250 yards rushing every week will stick around for 5 years. :-\

Re: Charlie Strong

I would at least make a run for him, I really feel he is moving on after this season, he is way overdue.

Re: Charlie Strong

Our coaching is embarrassing.  I don't know much about Strong, but if he can coach discipline and fundamentals, I am on board.  Maybe he would even bring someone to coach special teams!  Novel concept I know, but hey, it's worth mentioning.

Re: Charlie Strong

Urban Meyer coaches the special teams unit at Florida, he takes that part of the game VERY seriously…we should too.

After this season Meyer won't have much left to accomplish up there anyway, he's a great candidate for our ST coach.

No offense to your left nut, but it is going to take a hell of a lot more than that to get Charlie Strong to FAU.  ;)

In all seriousness he will be up for a head coaching position at a major BCS program and his salary will probably be more than the combined salaries of FAU's entire coaching staff.

Re: Charlie Strong

Good point owlfan1 but think about where Meyer started his first head coaching job was Bowling Green. This would be a step up in the right direction for Strong. FAU, Up and coming program, talent rich area, establishing itself as a contender but must move forward and is kind of stuck in the mud, best chance to move to a BCS Conference, prove himself and either stay and continue to grow with the program as did a few of the older coach's Peterno, Bowden, or move to a big conference team. Urban paid his dues and has made an impact at every program he's been involved with as a head coach.

The difference is that Strong has been a top-level coordinator for a long time. Meyer established himself in a different way. Meyer bounced around a lot and was never a coordinator prior to getting his first head coaching job. He coached at Notre Dame as a WR coach, but never established himself as one of the nation's elite coordinators prior to taking a head coaching job. Strong on the other hand has been one of the nation's best DCs for a long time. He is also the Florida Assistant Head Coach. If he leaves he goes to a rebuilding BCS conference school.

Absolutely.  The top coordinator in the country does not go to FAU as a step up.  He can have any vacant job that comes available.

Exactly. This discussion in bordering on ridiculous. Does anyone really think he will come to a school with no stadium, that plays in the SBC, and can't pay him more than maybe $500,000 per year when he can go to a BCS program with a 50,000+ on campus stadium and pretty much be guaranteed a salary in excess of $1.5 million?? He would have to be insane.
