FAU Fans Marching to the Wrong Campaign Drum?

FAU Fans Marching to the Wrong Campaign Drum?

So, Ole Miss is having a rough go of it lately, and one of thier Fan Groups has taken out full page ads in local papers asking for "change". But not the kind you would expect with the group targeting the administration rather than the coaching staff:

Obviously this differs from what a lot of our Fans have adopted as their cause - Howard.

And, personally believe we need change in a number of areas to be honest.

Was wondering what everyone thinks about this move?

Re: FAU Fans Marching to the Wrong Campaign Drum?

The current administration is at a HUGE crossroads in thier career.

The stadium is now built which took up a HUGE chunk of thier efforts (Rightfully so, we could not move forward without that piece).

Finding the RIGHT hire for Football and also making sure Jarvis is inked for a few more years is CRITICAL.

Should they fail in those 2 areas, yes it will be time to clean house there as well.

I have come here to chew bubble gum and kick @$$ and I'm out of bubble gum.

It looks like they are on the road to another 4 wins this year and have averaged less than 6 wins per year for the last 10 years.  I don't think they feel that is "cyclical".

They might be on to something.

GO OWLS!

NUTT is gone and I pray that Leach is not offered the job - I have to think he would love to Coach in the SEC. lLet's all pry that the cloud over him continues for a few more months and we get REAL lucky.

Certainly they don't. They had 10 wins in 2003. They stunk it up from 2004 to 2007. I was at Ole Miss in 2008 when they were 9-4. They followed that up with 9-4 in 2009. They have dropped off the last two years. I see something cyclical in that.

The folks in Oxford want 8 wins per year. Not too many teams in the SEC can do that.

They are in Mississippi is thier first problem.  They are a 2nd or 3rd choice for most athletes in the southern states like Florida and Louisiana.  They will ONLY have 8+ win seasons when they have a very good QB (Manning, Snead) and are sound at the other positions.

The reason its cyclical is due to the fact that players MUST leave the program after 4 years.  (Unless you're Xavier Stinson  ;D)  College football will never change in that aspect, especially now that they are lowering scholarship numbers.  Doesnt matter if you are Florida, FSU, Miami, Michigan, Texas…at some point you are going to flat out suck…its the nature of the way the game is set up…and there will always be fans that just dont understand that.

First time I read it, I thought it said "the cynical nature of college football."

I like my version better.

My point exactly. They lost lots of talent after the 2009 season. That really hurt them. They will probably improve again once they find a steady QB and rebuild overall talent. They cannot simply reload like the top tier SEC teams. They will hit 8 or 9 wins every 3 to 5 years, but in the interim they will be a 4-5 win team. Doesn't help that they consistently struggle against rival Memphis.

GO OWLS!!!

Re: FAU Fans Marching to the Wrong Campaign Drum?

Its interesting how that group singles out the administration, and not the typical targets like the coaches or athletes.  There must be a lot happening over there that we don't know about.  In our case though, I don't think anyone here sees the administration as the problem, its pretty clear that our problems lie with leadership and coaching.

Unless as someone said, we screw up the Jarvis deal and bring in an ineffective football coach.  I think we could look towards the administration at that point.
