FAU in Big East

There was a rumor up here in NJ that FAU will follow Louisville into the Big East in 2006. Does anyone know about this.

My sources tell me there is nothing to that rumor. Just wishful thinking on the part of the Big East to boost their conference rating.

President of the No Homers Club. Keepin' it real since 2001.

allsports, The sources are probably getting info from the not-so-secretive wire services.
Coach Schnell has gone on record saying that he want to get into the BE if possible. He went as far as saying the Dome Stadium will jump start that process. The Dome is projected AFTER 2006.
But I don't know where that date(2006) came from.

Another not: From what I understand the conferences will try to institute some type on term contracts with schools anyway, because of the Miami domino effect.

I haven't heard that one.

it does make perfect sense to have someone to play south florida. 08' big east. that would be sick. I bet you angelos isn't signing anything long term with sunbelt. the sunbelt is looking shaky at best. especially when there best team is 1AA.

Big East 2006 - forget about it. We had approached the BE when we made the intention of going 1-A, but got nothing from them, plus we are already committed to the SBC for 2005-2006.

Lets worry about the program continued growth and success on the field and getting the stadium built, everything else will take care of themselves.

A signed agreement can also mean that other teams can't leave the BE. Therefore no vacancies. It wouldn't come down to Angelos or the SunBelt if there's no vacancies.
SunBelt shaky? How? Teams are in place for the next several years. Now if you're talking competition..we'll the MAC is still below us. There's other conference who thumb their noses at the BE(Big Least). ACC being one of them.
I like the fact that the SunBelt gave us the chance to even compete in D1-A football. I personally won't knock them.

FAU needs a conference like BE too qualify for the BCS if they plan on being part of that down the road. What does the sunbelt have for a bowl game. New Orleans bowl isnt it.

I'm not knocking the Sunbelt I'm only looking at overall records which with the exception of troy and us have been quite poor.

While I'm excited to have the opportunity to play and win a bowl game in 05 I think there is no room for complacency and we must always be thinking of our next move?. Do you think schnelly doesn?t have a play for 2nd and ten if first down isn?t completed?

People can say were ahead of ourselves but screw them because were making strides were they have failed.

but some ray of hope…….. not one sunbelt team in espn's bottom ten this week. the first I 've ever seen.

ESPN.com's Bottom 10
Rank Team 2004 Rec. Comment

1. Central Florida 0-6 "You Can't Lose Me:" The Bottom 10 definitely won't lose the Golden Knights until they break into the win column.

2. Temple 1-6 "These are the days:" After all, since the Big East doesn't want the Owls after this season, will Temple want to play at all.

3. Tulane 1-4 "Been Around The World:" And can't find a city that produces such high quality food and low quality college football as New Orleans.

4. Mississippi State 1-5 "Over Easy:" The Bulldogs had the week off to prepare for the Gators, but the boys from Starkville have the kind of talent to make Ron Zook look good.

5. Ohio State 3-3 "Meant For You:" If you noticed the "O" missing from the logo to the left, the Bottom 10 figured that since we haven't seen any semblance of an O in Columbus for quite some time …

6. Western Michigan 1-5 "Take Me Under:" The Broncos loss to Eastern Michigan on Saturday has them one loss away from the Directional Michigan title.

7. Ball State 1-6 "Say, Say:" Where's the defense? The Cardinals have given up over 40 points in five of their seven games this season.

8. Kent State 1-6 "Sensitive:" In case you didn't notice, the Golden Flashes make it three MAC teams in a row and four overall in the Bottom 10.

9. SMU 1-6 "See You Again:" With Army and UTEP's newfound success, it's nice to know you can always count on the Ponies.

10. Kentucky 1-5 "We Fit Together:" The bad news is the Wildcats have lost four in a row. The good news is basketball season is right around the corner.

Waiting list: Arizona (1-5), Buffalo (1-6),
