Florida Atlantic sophomore QB Jaquez Johnson accounted for 404 yards of total offense and three touchdowns to lead the Owls to their first league victory and earn Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week honors.
Johnson was responsible for three total touchdowns to lead Florida Atlantic to its first Conference USA victory, 37-23 at UAB. Johnson rushed for a career-high 105 yards, including a 54-yard touchdown run that set up the Owls' final score of the day and more importantly used the clock to give the ball back to UAB with only 1:22 remaining.
Johnson completed 23-of-36 passes with no interceptions for a total of 299 yards and two scores, while also throwing a two-point conversion. In all, he was responsible for three total touchdowns. He teamed with Jonathan Wallace (117 yards) to become FAU's first duo to each rush for 100-plus yards in a game in the program's history. Johnson led the offense to record 579 total yards, the most for FAU since 2009. He was also named one of eight Manning Award National Stars of the Week.

It is unbelievably exciting to imagine this guy 2 years from now as a senior. Just seeing how he has improved over the last few games is impressive.Posted On: Oct 7th 2013, 12:51 PM #319257
I was thinking the same thing.
Didn't we have 500+ total yards in both the MTSU game and this one at UAB?
If he continues to put up performances like this, I think Athletics should try to build their marketing campaign (i.e. billboards) around him starting next year. We've never had this type of QB and it makes for really exciting football.

Winning is the first step, but an offense like this is the way for us to get a casual fan to the games. No one wants to watch a team eek out victories 14-10, they want to see high scoring fun football, and we're starting to show we can do that.
If this team keeps improving as the year goes on, just wait until we get our hands on S. Miss, FIU and N Mex!!!
Everyone has to come to play on Saturday though, it won't be an easy task.

It is finally nice to see an offense that can inspire some excitement and put points on the board after all of the lowly offensive outputs the past couple of seasons.
GO OWLS!!!

Come a long way from not being able to hit the broad side of a barn vs Miami, ECU or USF…a long way quickly.
Teambeer is the most knowledgeable FAU sports fan I know, way smarter than me.
