FAU RB Devin Singletary Named 2017 C-USA Football Most Valuable Player

Florida Atlantic sophomore RB Devin “Motor” Singletary is the recipient of the C-USA Most Valuable Player Award, becoming the first rusher to be named C-USA MVP since the award was instituted in 2008.  He has put together the most prolific rushing season in FAU history, establishing new school records for rushing attempts (275), rushing yards (1,796), rushing touchdowns (29) and total touchdowns (30).  Singletary ranks fourth in the FBS in rushing yards and leads the nation in rushing and total TDs, tying the C-USA records in the latter two categories originally set by UCF’s Kevin Smith in 2007, now FAU’s running backs coach.  He has posted 11 consecutive games with at least 100 yards rushing and the 11 100+-yard outings is the second-most in a season in league history.  Singletary led the Owls to their first Conference USA Championship and the school’s first bowl appearance since 2008 with a spot in the Cheribundi Tart Cherry Boca Raton Bowl.

All told, the native of Deerfield Beach reached numbers this year that broke seven FAU single-season marks: rushing TD, total TD, total points, rushing yards, all-purpose yards, rushing yards per game and all-purpose yards per game. In just two seasons, he has shattered the career rushing touchdown record with 41 (it was previously 27), and he is already third all-time in rushing yards. He is just 183 yards on the ground away from the 3,000-yard mark in his career, and 253 yards from moving into second place. Should he reach 50 yards in the bowl game, he’ll rank second on the all-time all-purpose yardage list.

Singletary has been AMAZING this season, but let's also remember he had 3 all-CUSA guys in front of him.  Having 3-all conference offensive lineman is pretty remarkable.  At the same time, Buddy has nearly 700 yards rushing, Driskel is closing in on 400, etc.  So if we really wanted to just feed Motor he could have set some crazy records this season!!!

I'm thinking we should have count down signs to 204 yards rushing during the Cheribundi Tart Cherry Boca Raton Bowl.

Keep up with his stats, update the dry erase or flip board to keep up with how far away he (the team) is.

Is anybody surprised? He will set the new conference record for TD's in a season during the Bowl Bowl.
