Hey football fans I need your help. My name is Richard Lowe and I am the sport editor for Middle Tennessee State University’s campus newspaper, Sidelines. This season, we are putting together a travel guide on our website so that our fans can get to know the locations of their road games better. I have several questions to ask and with your help, I can put together a comprehensive source for Blue Raider fans. Plus we will be putting together a web page for our town (Murfreesboro, TN) so that visiting fans can know everything there is to know. Here are my questions:
- Stadium atmosphere Lockhart is small, but with a big game like yours, it can get loud. I kinda like the intimate atmosphere, but most people don't.
- Highly recommended restaurants Depends what your looking for, but I really miss Flannigan's since I moved away.
- Bars (Specify which is for the older crowd and which for students or younger fans)Murphy's in Boca was always fun, but there are lots of bars in Ft. Lauderdale, Tarpon Bend, Automatic Slims.
- Tailgating areas (for home and visiting fans) Lockhart's parking lot isn't real big, so there's not really any "set" areas that I know of
- Local attractions Snorkeling/diving is great right off the beach, The Gumbo Limbo Nature center is pretty cool and linked to FAU. The Hard rock casino is in town too.
- Hotels
- Nearby cities
- Must see places on campus I haven't been on campus in a while, so I can't give you much here, but I know we have a lot of new, cool looking buildings.
- Active fan Message Boards This one.
If you have any additional advice, please let us know. You can post it in this thread or email me at [email protected]
Those are some ideas I thought of off the top of my head, but like I said I've been away for a while, so things may have changed. Good Luck with the guide though, it seems like a real cool idea.

Richard,
Welcome to the OwlsNest!
I'm sure others will chime in, as Duder has above, with some things to consider, etc…but just wanted to offer this:
Miami and "South Beach" is a hotspot for nightlife…not to far away from Lauderdale…

The thing you need to keep in mind Richard is that we don't play anywhere near campus so you've got the options of staying near the stadium (which is Ft. Lauderdale) or staying near campus (which is Boca Raton). But if someone is making the trek down from TN then Ft. Lauderdale is probably a better option.
