Howard's blog

Howard is getting email from more prospects. I like the way he ends the message.

Question from Eric
Coach Schnellenberger,
I would love a chance to play hard for you and your school, I have worked really hard to get where I am at, I have played football since the age of 9 and I am currently in my senior year of high school, I would love to send you my profile from my scouting agency (NCSA). I play really hard and love the game, please give me a chance.

Thank you very much for your time.

Response from Head Coach Howard Schnellenberger
Again, for all young men in the state of Florida that haven't been chosen and want to have a chance on our team, you need to do very well in school and be accepted into the university. You can then come to walk-on tryout camp and keep your dream alive by playing on a team of this caliber.

Re: Howard's blog

What about the guy who can run like the wind, fly like the birds, and jump like a grasshopper, but has a 2.0 GPA?

Oh, wait, they go to UM…

Re: Howard's blog

Well if they are decent but not picked up I say send them to PBCC and them have them transfer over with their eligibility and play through undergrad and grad school.

Its weird because my uncle tried to walk on for Schnelly at Miami in the 80's, big difference.  He was apparently really nice to him but said look kid, come to practice, walk-on, earn your spot and get a scholarship, but I can't give you a scholarship at this point, on this caliber team.  He ended up playing in Pennsylvania in 1-AA but always has had nothing but good things to say about HS.

This is really great though, I love the hardworkers that want to come and play, maybe they are too small or whatever, but they have the tenacity that gets them a spot.  Gotta love FAU.

Go OWLS!

There are a couple of preferred walk-ons coming in. I met one the other day – a linebacker. Coach looked at his tape and said he is definitely able to play on this level.

A couple of high school kids were at practice Monday… can't remember what high school they're from… but only one was a senior (he plays DT). His friends, who were juniors, were various positions – TE, RB, QB. The QB was not the body type of a Schnellenberger QB but you never know. They were out to watch the team practice… maybe they'll play for us someday. The practices have been getting anywhere from 10-25 observers. I met Darian William's dad, Don Williams… awesome, awesome guy… he was also a WR so he coaches his son during drills too.

(Former FAU LB) Chris Laskowski is there every single day. Graduated seniors Kris Bartels, Taheem Acevedo, Cergile Sincere etc all come out to pump up the team whenever it's offense/defense going at it. It's great to see the guys still stay connected to the program even though they're not required to show up at practice anymore.

I believe the eligibility clock starts the minute he begins class at PBCC.

Re: Howard's blog

i thought eligibility started the minute they are added to a roster……there was a 40+ year old player that went back to school to take masters classes on a ncaa team last year……he already had his 4 year……
