Question from Nelson
I have a couple of questions
First, when we build our won on-campus stadium, what time would we be playing games? I’m hoping for 7 p.m. because Lockhart’s 4 p.m. time and Dolphin Stadium’s 2 p.m. times are very very difficult to make for people who work. It’s right in the middle of the day and over 25% of FAU’s population works 40+ hours a week to make our bills. If we play on-campus at 7 p.m., FAU students could work until 5 and could still make it to the game at 7 p.m.
Second, I noticed we only have ten games scheduled for 2009 and eleven games scheduled for 2010. Any ideas about what other teams you’re trying to get to fill the schedule for 12 games? I’m hoping for a game against Auburn sometime and a home game against UCF or FSU for 2010.
Third, how would you compare Rusty Smith and Jeff VanCamp? With Jeff being a freshman and Rusty a sophomore, do you see Jeff as being where Rusty was last year?
Fourth, do you think it’s possible for us to break the BCS Top-25 as a Sun Belt team? The cards seem stacked against us since none of the SBC teams are ranked?
Fifth, could we get a trophy going for the Troy/FAU game? The game is “The Battle of Troy” and the trophy could have a little Trojan horse on top of it. Just a though…want to see more trophies in the Oxley!
Thanks Coach
Response from Head Coach Howard Schnellenberger
First, regardless of where we will be, we will continue our home games that are not televised at 4 p.m. At Miami and Louisville and now at FAU 4 p.m., regardless of a Dolphins, Hurricane or it being a t.v. game, this is a tried and true time we have used since 1979.
Second, all future schedules haven’t been assigned, but a 121 game schedule will be played until the NCAA revises its schedule.
Third, I would say that both quarterbacks are tall, intelligent, courageous, strong students and leaders. One is a redshirt freshman the other a redshirt sophomore. The major difference is one year.
Fourth, with the strong out of conference schedule that we have played and this is the reason we play it, and with a strong record against these teams a top-25 (top-10) rank is possible if not probable. It is important that we continue strong non-conference games on both the front end, against a very solid conference schedule and finish against a very solid Conference USA opponent.

Yet another excellent example of why Schnelly doesn't need to be bothered with a blog.
Apparently not…
