It looks as if Jared Allen had a good scrimmage Wednesday for the Amsterdam Admirals (training in Tampa). The Admirals will play the Berlin Thunder (featuring FAU alum Quentin Swain) in the opener March 18 (taped delay in the USA, 7 p.m. Eastern).

Here's the mention of Allen (one of three QBs for Amsterdam) from the scrimmage:

"In the passing game during team drills Reggie Robertson (Oakland Raiders) led by going six for seven with one touchdown, Gibran Hamdan (Seattle Seahawks) registered four completions on six attempts and Jared Allen (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) went four for five."

NFL Europe teams were supposed to make final cuts Sunday, March 5. Does anyone know whether Jared Allen (Amsterdam Admirals) and Quentin Swain (Berlin Thunder) made the teams?

According to Nfleurope.com neither of them was cut. They are both also listed on their respective teams rosters. First games are March 18th. IT looks like Allen is on a team with an experienced qb hopefully he can get a chance to play. Looks like it would've been better to if he had gotten on same team as Swain as though don't have a guy who has stood out in practice yet.

"Linebacker Quentin Swain has been a pleasant surprise for the Thunder. Swain, because he joined Berlin as a free agent, faced an uphill battle to make the team, but has gotten a respectable number of reps in practice.

Swain feels good about his standing heading into the roster trim, but still views the final scrimmage as an opportunity to display the result of his efforts thus far.

?Coach told me some things that inspired me coming in as a free agent,? Swain said. ?[Saturday] is a big-time chance for us to show what we?ve learned.?"

Thanks. It looks like a tape-delay presentation of the game featuring the two FAU guys' teams will be on the NFL Network Saturday, March 18, at 7 p.m. EDT. Jared Allen is with the Amsterdam Admirals and Quentin Swain is with the Berlin Thunder. Here is the link to the NFL Europe TV schedule:

Have any of our guys tried out for Arena football? I think some of our former WRs would have a good shot at making one of those teams.

A lot of players has been making the circuit for Arena ball. Some even made the AF2 (minor)League in Ft Myers and Miami.

There are several who had good showings during the CFL tryouts last week in Orlando and the previous week in Hollywood,Fla.

I see that the Bucs cut Griese today. Hopefully this is good news for Jared.

Does anyone know the depth chart for the Admirals? Is Jared expected to get some playing time?

The Bucs are looking hard at Pat Ramsey, Redskins. The guy only have 24 starts in 4 years!

I know it's his experience and it's still more than Jared but c'mon!

Why do they keep recycling these guys that seem to bounce from team to team - I don't get it. I know that the position is one of the hardest to find quality players for, but at one point you need to bring in new blood. The same seems to happen with coaches - experience is one thing, but when one becomes stale they need to be thrown away.
