Owl Football on The Rise

Afternoon folks,

The friendly and football savvy "OwlontheProwl" here. I'm new to this board but very familiar with Owl football and the Sunbelt Conference. I've followed the FAU program since its inception and have been very impressed with some of the seasons and some of the wins experienced. Consistency has probably been the biggest issue the past couple of years.

FAU has the best coaching staff in the Sunbelt and the second best class of recruits next to Troy. However, inside information has a gem coming your way to make up for some last minute recruiting losses. FAU has the most to offer to athletes in the Sunbelt when combining the school, the school location, the coaching staff, and the home and travel schedule. FAU is lacking a bit on facilities, but Howard is addressing this and quickly. FAU is the most attractive school of all in the Sunbelt for transition to another conference such as Conference USA or the Big East. Once the facilities are addressed and constructed, expect the Big East to come calling.

FAU has a great area to recruit from and a great area to recruit to (when recruiting kids outside of state). I mean, who wouldn't want to go to school in South Florida near the beaches, night life, professional and high-level amateur sports teams. Bottom line, there is nothing but up, up, and up for FAU. Only one other team in the Sunbelt can really say this and it is FIU. The rest of the teams are located more in "rustbelt" locations.

I'm excited about the 2006 Owls. It will be a tough year with the brutal OOC, but it will prepare the Owls for what I think will be a memorable 2007, 2008, and 2009 seasons.

This is a nice post but a little skepticism never hurt anyone. Would be nice to know a little background.

Everyone knows this post will attract comments from our friends on other boards.

As you will see, most of the post is strictly opinion based on my knowledge of the Sunbelt, several of its teams to include the Owls. As to the gem, I cannot disclose this information at this time.

We can't be concerned with other teams reading our board if Lady Luck shines her fortune on us.

Just want to clarify. I wasn't showing skepticism on the owl's success. I was skeptic about a poster on his first post blowing sunshine everywhere and having some inside information.

Welcome to the board owlontheprowl.

We normally proceed with caution around these parts when informative posters jump out at us from nowhere. We've been there several times before. :)

I do agree with the assestment that 2006 will be another tough year similar to last year, except for a few more W's - as I have said before the potential is there for this to be a solid team within two to three years - all those tough OCC games will be the driving force that elevates this teams to greater heights and I know most experts would disagree, but it will help show the youngs kids the how hard they must work to reach that level of play. The kids must buy into the coaches system and the rest will take care of itself. It should also help the kids mental toughnest and be more prepared.

Sorry folks, I thought I had landed in the middle of an Optimist Club meeting. Ha. No, I can understand your comments OG Owl. I don't think I said anything that was controversial other than the "gem" comment. The rest is in front of everyone's nose. I like Bytor's thinking. As I said 2007-2009 will be some great years in my mind. I feel Howard and his staff will have the team poised for greatness during those years.
