Pregame Toughts - USC vs FAU

It's rather hard to make any kind of predictions when the team has not played well. We haven't played like we are a very good team so far.

The team did accomplish one of it's goals last week - scoring a touchdown (heck almost a second).

The defense need to play better on third downs - period, they can play like studs on the first two and then give up a big play or let the oppossing team convert on a third and long, lets try forcing the other team to punt more guys. We should be able to contain the running game of USC, they have just as much trouble running the ball as we do. The biggest challenge will be not to over commit - the old ball coach will use some trick plays and the defense will have to remain alert. We need to start utilising our speed more to make plays & tackle better.

On offense, we need to be better from the first snap. Somebody needs to step-up at the QB position and play like they actually want the starting position and most important things, we need to find ourselves a running game or we will continue to struggle on offense. Again we need to show our speed, which we haven't yet.

I am hoping to see our best effort of the season on Saturday and hopefully make the old ball coach throw his visor a couple of times.

What I've read so far, USC is going to try to throw alot this game which will be interesting since up to this point, including last year, everyone has run the ball against us with great success. This will be an interesting change. Lets see how well the secondary does. I think it will be a close game if USC relies on their passing game.

I have been browsing some of the newspaper articles on the net from around the country. It is no suprise to anyone…

…we are the laughing stock of college football right now.

I have read more put down comments then I can remember like; "USC has a bye this week, they're playing FAU"

Those guys need to do something in Columbia tomorrow!!!!

I hope it gets them ready for the SBC although it didn't seem to help last year in the SBC play. They still played poorly after getting beat up by Kansas, Minnesota, Louisville and Ok-State. By the time they got to the Shula Bowl, they were worn out.

From what I am hearing, the guys are pretty pumped for this game, so morale will not be an issue.

The guys just need to bring some energy to the game, thanks to the old ball coach may help us bring it on, can we eliminate mistakes and play through them.

We need a good 1st half to establish something concrete and hopefully build on that. That way the game is not over after the 1st half - then we accomplished something positive.

Counting on the defense today - they should be able to contain this USC offense as THEY are "not that good". If the defense is successful that will boost the momentum for the offense - let's try to keep USC scoreless in the first quarter !

Great motivation, high energy, talent, growing experience and decreasing mistakes. This could be an interesting game.... In any case, the two key words apply for me: patience and support.

grayowl…wow that looks cold. Everytime I think about moving I see a picture like that in Sept. or April and remember why I love S.FLA so much.
