Recruits at Home Opener?

Recruits at Home Opener?

I'm assuming FAU will be inviting recruits to our home opener on Oct 15, since we want to show off our brand new stadium with what's going to be our biggest crowd of the season.

However, I haven't seen any scheduled visits on any of the recruiting websites.

Not sure who will be in attendance or if it will be made public, but it would be nice if FAU kept fans in loop with recruiting efforts.

I "hope" that the recruits are part of their plans.  OWL Nation needs to take advantage of this chance in a lifetime opportunity.

Yes, they will be.

Well, it's not FAU's job to keep the fans in the loop with their recruiting efforts. The media should do that, not FAU.

Fair point. Let's hope Ted has some answers on that for us during his next live chat.

Re: Recruits at Home Opener?

Im not sure I would want recurits in at the first game. I would think it would better for the second one against MTSU that will be Televised.

Grand openings invariably have things go wrong. History is replete with horror stories.

Disneyland -1955 is a prime example.

Only 10k guests were invited, but fake tickets got out and 20K plus showed up. Asphault hadnt hardened and people got stuck. Water fountains and restrooms were not at 100%. It was a nightmare from everything I've ever read. I believe that when UCF opened thier stadium they had water fountain issues as well.

I like to think of the WKU game as the shakedown cruise as far as showing this lil lady off to recruits. Work out the kinks in the recruiting center and the stadium in general then bring those kids in for a game under the lights and on TV.

I have come here to chew bubble gum and kick @$$ and I'm out of bubble gum.

I think if there are more than 10K tickets available after next Sat, they should make them available to all high school football programs in Palm Beach Co at no cost.... If the tickets were not going to sell anyways, why not get all the football players in PBC exposure to the stadium..... I used to see them occasionally at Lockhart

Pretty sure that's a recruiting violation.  There are NCAA rules about giving high school students free tickets.

Re: Recruits at Home Opener?

What about giving them to the HS booster clubs and then they can give out to "anyone" - students, parents teachers, coaches, administrators, band members and directors (have to grow the band now too guys!). Hey there is a question, is it a violation to give HS Coaches tickets to get them aware of the program and get them on board?

Re: Recruits at Home Opener?

Many area football players will probably show up just to see the new stadium and experience gameday in Boca. That alone should help with recruiting local players.

Why bother, they are all zero and one star guys who stink and will never be any good at football anyway.
