Rusty's arm?

Rusty's arm?

Just throwing some information out here, so take it as you wish…im not starting a rumor mill, but some facts to report, ponder, and watch for the next couple of days…game time is 10 days from now…

Howard used the words "hurt" and "sore" in post scrimmage interview in response to Rusty's arm and not playing but a total of four pass downs today - ie he has some pain when he throws…two passes looked wobbly and had no zip…

this was along with "we are going to ease him back in slowly" when asked when he will return…Rusty went straight to the locker room right passed the press that was there…although i am not sure if any had requested him for an interview…

when asked yesterday when he would be back, Rusty confidently stated with a smile "ill be back at it tommorow"…when asked what was wrong with his arm he said "its tired"…

well, if taking 10% of the total snaps is back at it, i want more clarification on the meaning(s) of the word(s) "sore", "tired", and "hurt"…

because i did not see Rusty Smith at practice yesterday or today…i saw i guy standing around for the most part…actually he held the white board yesterday…and when he went to toss two throw aways back to the players on the field he used his left arm…

Parting note on Van Camp:

guy looks solid…we are better off than ever at back up QB…

sees the field well…can throw…and can scramble…

thats all for now…….

Rusty's arm?

Let's hope Rusty is just "sore" and that coach is giving him a few days off to rest his arm. I want to see him play in the opener so that FAU has the best possible chance of winning against MTSU.
Based on the picture from the Sun-Sentinel blog, it doesn't look like a shoulder problem, which is good news. Rusty has him right forearm taped. Probably just a sore muscle.

VamCamp should continue to develop into a relliable back-up for now.

From what I been hearing Rusty has been doing a lot of extra work since the end of last season - will see what happens after a few days off, I would rather see him rest it as long as it take and be ready for Sept 1.

I'm sure the coaches are taking extra precaution.

Here's my two cents.

Rusty has obviously changed his throwing motion….the same motion he's probably been using forever.

When you change your motion in any sport, you start using muscles that you didn't use before. I think this is just catching up with him. He probably has the baseball equivalent of a dead arm.

Give him a few days off, and he should be fine.

Good point. I was thinking along the same lines. I don't know if this explains his forearm being sore though. I wonder if it could be something like tendonitis in his elbow. Wrapping the forearm tight would help to relieve some of the pain. This is just a thought although I could be way off.

I had the opportunity to watch Rusty in HS, & one of the things that he needed to correct then, & what I also saw last year, is that when he "breaks down", he throws sidearm a lot. Which will put more strain on his arm. That was his "natrual" throwing motion then, & I always thought he needed to change that. If there is anything he needs to work on, it's the need to get out of throwing with a sidearm or 3/4 motion. He's so tall, that when he lowers his arm, it gives the defenses a better chance to bat his passes down.
