Way too early Predictions 2008
WAY to early 2008 Predictions for FAU.
Aug 30th @ Texas: FAU puts up a valiant struggle but doesn’t overcome the longhorns. 31-21 Texas wins
Sept 6th UAB: FAU wins big in their first home game against a CUSA mid level 28-10 FAU
Sept 13 @ Michigan St. – FAU Surprises some folk with a very close game in which we led but found a way to loose it in the end. 21-17 Michigan State
Spet 20 @ Minn: FAU wins another Big 10 showdown, as the gophers cant adjust. 41-35 FAU
Sept 27th @ ULM: REVENGE! FAU stomps ULM who has lost a valuable starter: 31-14 FAU
Oct 01 TROY: Trojans want revenge, and they almost get it. But FAU holds on taking advantage of a new QB and OC. 21-10 FAU
Oct 18th @ WKU: FAU spanks the newbies to the SB. Welcome to 1A. 41-10 FAU
Oct 25th ULL: The Rajun Cajuns go down in regulation this time. 21-14 FAU
Nov 1st @ MTSU: Muts look good, play good, but make a few mistakes that FAU converts. 31-21 FAU
Nov 8th NT: Dodgeball puts up big numbers, but gives them up too. 52-41 FAU
Nov 15th @ ASU- Wolves get stomped. Not sure why just a gut feeling. FAU 28-3
Nov 22nd FIU- At “Home” AKA dolphin stadium, Lil better for the panthers but still a Butt kicking. 28-10 FAU.
10 -2. FAU gets a Bigger Bowl, and Troy takes the NO Bowl as they are in 2nd place in the SB.
Crazy?
Who knows, and obviously there a few games that can go either way, TROY and MTSU come to my mind and that could put us at 8-4 if we lost both of those.
All in fun as a LOT can happen in the next 8 months.
I have come here to chew bubble gum and kick @$$ and I'm out of bubble gum.

Re: Way to early Predictions 2008
If we can beat Michigan State and Minnesota and finish at 9-3, go undefeated in the belt and win by some convincing margins unlike last season then it's a possibility but I don't see us going to anything other then the N.O. bowl this season.
IMO we won't beat Texas but we will beat Mich. State and Minnesota but I can see us losing 1 game in the belt. Troy reloaded and they always give us fits. Can't count out MTSU either. The trap game will be WKU because they are, what we were, going into MTSU to play them our transition year. Nothing to lose all the pressure will be on us to beat this team because they are in transition and we should beat them but if they think too much about it, WKU may surprise us
My two favorite teams are FAU, and who ever is beating FIU!

i LOVE the owls… i have faith we can repeat as Belt champs….
BUT
you are selling WKU way too short… you are selling Minnesota's revenge factor way too short… you are selling Troy's revenge factor way too short… you selling FIU's new system way too short…
let's see how spring ball goes before we make predictions
until then… give the Belt teams some respect… we are NOT Big East or CUSA level yet… there is still Belt parity

Yup, this is the IDEAL situation.
WKU I am in the dark on, just dont have any experience. Its going to be a rough ride. I DO think TROY is going to come in pissed off and ready to roll, but I think well have the gusto to do it and win. ANY of the belt games could go against us, Dodgeball scares me more then a bit with a high powered octane offense. Plus with thier new DC (Who is actually a OLD DC, coming back home) they could be right back on track.
Gonna be a fun ride!

I don't have any opinions on the teams this early but I'd like both FIU and UNT to get out of the ESPN Bottom Ten for the Belt's sake.
In general, we need the majority of teams to be 0.500 or better and knock off respectable OOC opponents.

Has the bar been raised? Does everyone expect us to make it to a bowl this season?

i'd say yes… ONLY because we have virtually everyone coming back… very few senior losses from last year, including certain freshmen redshirts this year who should make a HUGE impact

Re: Way too early Predictions 2008
Texas is a nice trip and the chance to give them a scare and make people take notice of FAU, but I don't see a win in the cards.
Beating UAB is feasible and I will be disappointed if FAU doesn't get the job done.
Michigan State will be a big test, but it has the potential to be a winnable game.
Minnesota cannot possibly be as bad as they were last year. I think both teams will be better. This is a toss up in my opinion. If FAU can go 1-1 against BIG TEN opponents that will be great.
The conference is too hard to call. As some have said, don't look past Western Kentucky. They will come to play and they will surprise some people.
My gut says 8-4 with losses to Texas, Michigan State, Minnesota, and MTSU. Although I think we could split the BIG TEN opponents which would result in a 9-3 record.
GO OWLS!!!
