What's with all the negativity

What's with all the negativity

So, im reading all of the ”Topics” right now in the football forum as of late:

“Howard has to go” ← my personal favorite

"Rusty not doing any better"

“Curse of the SBC favorite”

“Joke of a season”

“Cant trust Howard”

"Best stat yet"

“Polo sucks”

Are we serious with this crap? Im all for objectivity and rationale discussion, but alot of this, and the replies therein, is simply crossing the line.

Mind you, alot of team members frequent this forum…they may not post, but they read it.

Keep it up…maybe we can "encourage" them along with this type of garbage.

NOT.

Re: What's with all the negativity

I agree. This is ridiculous. Wouldn't want any of these guys next to me in a foxhole.

Talk about turning on your team.

When the going gets tough….fans of FAU start bitching.

I think our new PBP correspondant makes the best overall assessment comment regarding last night's game…one that is truly objective…hang the hat on this and not the post of negativity:

"The first group that has to take heed is the special teams. Tuesday’s performance was as bad as you will ever see from all areas. The Owls handed Troy 14 points when they turned over a short kickoff, giving Troy the ball on the 16, and Morgan Barnett snapped the ball over the punter’s head, giving the Trojans a first down on the 4.

In both cases, Troy scored in two plays.

Other forgettable moments: a missed 27-yard field goal by Warley Leroy, fielding a punt on the 5, an undisciplined personal foul on a punt return by fifth-year senior Ted Czepiga that gave Troy the ball on the FAU 38 and a short punt.

- Tom DeAngelo, PBP

Funny, i dont see anything about Howard in there??

Go figure…….

The way I see it both MTSU and Troy could easily have been victories if FAU had not made so many mental mistakes. Everybody is ripping the team apart, but the truth is that this team has the potential to be very good and could be 2-0 in the conference if they would just learn how to execute and avoid the mental meltdowns.
At least the potential is there. They aren't out there getting mopped up like has happened in the past. Unfortunately it is harder to take when we know that they have the ability to be good if they would just play to their potential.

Exactly. Since the problems are mental they are fixable.

Re: What's with all the negativity

The Troy game was a couple of made-catches from a victory, even with all the FAU errors. The receivers just kept dropping them!

And, did anyone ever teach the punter to kick the ball OUT OF THE BACK OF THE END ZONE after a botched snap? Geeze! Give Troy the ball at the 4?!

Re: What's with all the negativity

It seems like once the mistakes starts, they seem to compound themselves.

And this has been the frustrating part of seeing this team, under preforming this year, so many mistakes.

At this point the players need to learn to have VERY SHORT memories - forget the mistake and move on to the next play.

As hard as it is right now, this team will rebound - Howard is still a great motivator.  The players have been humbled a bit and this is another step in the building process of this program.

Coach has push these kids hard for a reason, especially if you want to reach the higher levels that has been talked about on this board.  In the process you expose yourselves to these type of failures & the last thing you need to do is play the blame game.  You make some adjustment & move on.

You can never have any level of success with out many failures along the way - no matter how painful they might be.  Failures are temporary results on the road to many successes.

Re: What's with all the negativity

I hate the fact that all the posts are negative, but it is what it is.  There are not a lot of positive things to say about the team so far this year.  I wish there was, and I usually try to find one good thing to write about, but right now I'm all out.  I'm sure some of the players do come on here and read, and I know that they don't want to hear the things being posted, but we are the fans, and we are not happy.  Just because we are complaining does not mean we are jumping ship, people are allowed to complain.  Hell, Gator fans complain cause they don't win by 50 everytime, or Tebow didn't rush for 37 touchdowns! ;D.  We may have lost a few fans over this, but I would say 90% of us on here have been fans since the program started and we aren't going anywhere.  I am dissapointed, but GO OWLS FOREVER!
