Owls toss up 4-of-21 performance from long range in loss to Siena

Florida Atlantic had its three game win streak snapped tonight, falling 72-69 to Siena (3-6, 1-1) at the Times Union Center in Albany, NY.

The Owls’ bench poured in a season high 38 points, surpassing the starters, but three point shooting was dismal as FAU (6-5) shot just 19.0% from behind the arc.

Shavar Richardson (photo) was 7-of-16, for 16 points, to lead the Owls.

“We just didn’t have enough guys show up tonight”, said Coach Mike Jarvis. “To win on the road everybody’s got to come and be ready to play.”

Re: All Saints Day

Dissapointing loss.  This team is very inconsistant.  With White and Royster why are we living and dying with the 3 ball?

Teambeer is the most knowledgeable FAU sports fan I know, way smarter than me.

Re: All Saints Day

Sienna's a good team but we could've beaten them. We beat ourselves more than they beat us. Missed F/T's and way too many missed 3's. They saw the 3 wasn't working early, should've drove to the hoop and try to draw a foul especially on there big man

My two favorite teams are FAU, and who ever is beating FIU!

Re: All Saints Day

Tough loss, we could have and should have won. However I didn't expect us to win every game on this road trip anyway and I'd rather us lose a non-con game before our conference season begins. I'm not so disappointed though. We had a terrible night shooting and our big men didn't play very well and we still were in it in the last minute. I don't know if I like the call of going for two at the end. If we get a quick two and there's still 15 seconds left of the clock, then sure, I like it. But a two with 4 seconds left doesn't do us much good. Anyway, we lost a tough game away from home, we played hard but just came up short while not playing our best basketball. That's fine with me! If anything it could be a blessing in disguise. Now we know what we need to work on before Troy. I fully expect us to come ready for Troy and put up a good game all around. Go Owls!

Re: All Saints Day

3's are especially tough at away games, the background and visibilty, the rim and backboard themselves.

My idea is when we play a team with one good inside player, attack him and try to get HIM in foul trouble and off the court. Drive right at him and lay-up or dish off, or pass inside and back into him and fake him to try and get him off HIS feet to draw a foul. Whatever it takes. Instead of our top big men on the bench, let's get thiers there!
