Now the BOT rears it's ugly head...

From Ted Hutton's blog:

Flip Flop Football | And the search goes on...And Nick in Paris-dise

Sorry, I said to stay tuned, but this search is a strange one. You can either be frustrated or fascinated, and I am going to go with fascinated.

Negotiations continue, so it is looking like Friday at the earliest. And, as some people have surmised, the BOT is involved due to the Davenport Disaster.

Now any mutli-year contract that includes a severance package must be approved by the BOT. So, add another layer of red tape to the process. This is the first time it has involved a coach, so they are breaking new ground, which means going through the maze of how to do this.

Anyway, stand down for now. Anything can happen, including a finalist other than MJ getting the gig. I won't go with anything until I have it nailed down, and this is like trying to staple jello to a wall.

You just knew this wouldn't be simple once the BOT got involved.  >:(

Not that oversight isn't a good thing, and I completely understand why they are involved, but does it really take a genius(or a group of them…and i'm using the term genius loosely) to hire a coach?  This should be a fairly straight forward process, but i'm sure that it is about to get much more complicated then it has to be.

All the BOT has to do is approve the severance package. It still is bureaucracy and more red tape but I would think it should be straight forward.

Re: Now the BOT rears it's ugly head...

What ever the reasons are they better nip this in the butt early or they will be making it very hard to get the type of coaches (with experience) that was available this time around.  The next time, it will be only a bunch of assistances to pick from.  :P

Hiring a coach is a different animal and if they try to use the same tactic you might use for other individuals like teachers, administartive types, etc… they are going to screw this up.  Timing is everything on this, two days should be more them enough time for them to re-view the contract.

With that said, is there more to this then meets the eye?  ::)
