East Carolina at a Glance:

Averaging 83.6 points per game, the Pirates enter Thursday’s contest 17th in the nation in total scoring. The impressive offense is amassed by four guards of all shapes and sizes that make up ECU’s deadly backcourt.

Leading the way is guard Akeem Richmond. The Rhode Island transfer is making his present known in his second season with the Pirates. Standing at 6’0”, the senior leader doesn’t let his stature stop him from leading Conference USA in scoring, racking up 19.6 points per game.

The Pirates also find consistent offensive production from junior guard Paris Roberts-Campbell. Roberts-Campbell is in his third year with the Pirates and has nearly tripled his scoring and rebounds per game from his freshman and sophomore season. The junior’s increased numbers are probably due to the departure of Maurice Kemp (18.9 ppg, 8.0 rpg, .505 FG%).

The squad’s two big-bodied freshmen are making impacts on opposite ends of the court.

Caleb White is a 6’7” guard who enjoys to stay beyond the arc. The freshman leads the team in 3P% with .449. White’s scoring ability has landed him with 12.1 points a game and the third most minutes on the team with 28.9.

Another freshman to watch is Brandan Stith, a member of the teams frontcourt whose 9.3 rebounds per game has him ranked number three in C-USA. Although Stith is more of a sixth man, he finds the most of his 24.5 minutes per game by amassing 148 boards through 16 games.

ECU lost its C-USA opener to Old Dominion 81-70 despite a valiant effort by Paris Roberts-Campbell who finished the game with 21 points and seven rebounds.

The Pirates have yet to grab a signature win this season, but have limited the unpredictable loss, dropping losses to no.6 ranked Duke (83-74), NC State (90-79), and Georgia State (89-82) who is ranked no.1 in the Sun Belt.

FAU at a Glance:

The Owls kick off a three game home stretch against the Pirates after a much needed 73-68 road victory against Rice. Despite being outshot for the firth straight contest, it marked the program's first contest and triumph in Conference USA under Coach Mike Jarvis.

A key cog in the win was “old reliable” Pablo Bertone. The senior finished the game with 20 points (10th career) and two steals, but more importantly showed a selfless style a play, dishing the ball around for a season high 7 assists. Bertone has now paced the offense 11-of-16 times this year.

Also aiding in the endeavor was a season high for free throws made (21).

Center Justin Raffington posted his fourth straight double-double with 11 points and 12 boards. Raffington has solidified his role as the Owls big man with the noted declining minutes of Dragan Sekelja.

Guard Marquan Botley continues to up his averages as well with 8.3 ppg, and 2.3 assists per game. Botley also racked up a few career highs against Rice with new bests in points (19), minutes (36), rebounds (5), and steals (3) in his return to his home state of Texas.

Jackson Trapp appears to back in full swing after some much needed rest against and heading into the Warner game. Despite the downtime, Trapp notched back-to-back double-digit efforts against La Tech and Rice, and continues to remain FAU’s second leading scorer on the season.

The Owls are 5-2 in The Burrow thus far. With Old Dominion being the second team to visit on Saturday, the team could find themselves 3-1 in league play, thereby building some momentum that could lift spirits significantly in the locker room.

Latest Line:

FAU -1

Owl's Nest Prediction

The Owls are getting ready to face a potent offensive attack in ECU that puts up nearly 84 points a game. FAU has only scored above 84 points one time this year against Ave Maria. The squad will have to continue its domination in the post and multiple 10+ scorers is a must.

Although definite lengths and strides are being made by the Owls in recent weeks we think that the Pirates will be too much in the end.
