FAU Launches Random Acts of Kindness Initiative

Florida Atlantic University’s Division of Student Affairs recently launched a new initiative for students called “FAU Cares through Random Acts of Kindness.” The purpose of this program is to recognize students who perform random acts of kindness within the University community and beyond. This initiative also is a vehicle for faculty and staff to become more aware of students who reach out to others in meaningful ways.

“This program enables the university to recognize the many random acts of kindness that are done by our students every day,” said Dr. Corey A. King, associate vice president and dean of student affairs at FAU. “Our students do well both inside and outside of the classroom.”

Some examples of random acts of kindness reported have been the return of a lost wallet; personally walking someone lost on FAU’s campus to the appropriate location; and helping an elderly shopper with loading groceries into their car. Students are acknowledged for their compassionate act with a letter and a certificate from the division.

Faculty, staff and community members can submit information about a student’s random acts of kindness via the Internet at www.fau.edu/dean/ or by e-mail at [email protected].

Re: FAU Launches Random Acts of Kindness Initiative

But if you are acknowledged for the act of kindness and are aware of this, then isn't it no longer a random act?
