Re: Fire Kimberly Miller
The Miami Herald is considered one of the country's better newspapers, but not for local news in this area. The Internet and dwindling subscription bases (although with corporate demands for huge profit margins over community service) have caused papers nationwide to cut back on editorial staff. As a result, The Herald gets its Palm Beach County news from the Post. The Sun-Sentinel gets its northern Palm Beach County and Treasure Coast news from the Stuart/Port St Luce News, Vero Beach Press Journal, Fort Pierce Tribune, etc. These deals work both ways.
The St. Petersburg Times is probably, arguably, the best newspaper in Florida and one of the best in the country.
Papers like The New York Times have global resources and lots of money. Their own, generally top-notch reporters and photographers cover events from Afghanistan to Arkansas. They have (although fewer and fewer) bureaus in major cities throughout the world.
Smaller papers rely on wire services for most of if not all their non-local coverage. You get the same regurgitated stuff in every paper from Fort Lauderdale to Montgomery.
Some of the big chains like Tribune-AOL-or-whatever-it's-called that owns the S-S do have some bureaus and reporters who serve the chain. The S-S gets a lot of its news (and vice-versa) from the Orlando Sentinel and Chicago Tribune, sister papers. Even the Treasure Coast papers (Stuart/Port St Luce News, Vero Beach Press Journal, etc.) are served by reporters at other family papers in Cincinnati, Denver, etc. and the Scripps Howard News Service. Cox (Post) has support from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Dayton paper and other publications.

Where did Ms. Miller graduate from? Just curious.
If I was a betting man, I'd say UF.

I think anyone that feels offended by what she writes is "reading" too far into it. It would be like asking a crime reporter to cover all the stories about rescuing cats out of trees.
It's 1) not interesting; 2) redundant.
Just something to think about, we don't need to re-hash this.

No, I remember looking into it to see if she had 'Gator Goggles' (where you see everything as less in comparison to UF) but IIRC she graduated from somewhere else, outside of Florida.
