my orentation summary
During many of the presentations the stadium was brought up they even had a slid show with many of the pictures on this site i would say most people didn't know about the stadium but there were lots of oooooo's and aaaaaaaaa;s during the slide show which is nice.
During the showcase of services(which is when the clubs have there table set up in the student union) HS came walking through i happen to be walking out of the logo store right as he walked by he shook both me and my moms hand. He was saying how it it was nice to see all these new young students. It was kinda sad to see only like two more students walk up to him most probably never heard of him.
As for the pep rally with the prowlers the kids weren't that excited but its hard to get some kids to get up a and start singing. They did menchin a spirit group started buy ATO that cheers at the basket it ball games i wonder who they were talking about ;).
A couple real positives i saw was i talked to many kids that said they were really excited about football season and were going to make it to all the games another thing i notice was kids buying tons of fau stuff i saw alot of fau shirts sweat shirts etc. on the second day.
I hope all little thing will go a long way into keep making FAU a better University.

Thanks for your review man, I really appreciate it. I know that last year University Press blogger Irene Medina wrote a pretty contentious but spot-on review of Orientation.owlcountry40 said
Well i just finished my two days of orientation and i figured i post and let you guys know about some of the stuff that they do now and that probably changed since when some of you guys had it. First it was two very long days one 11 hour day and another 7 hour day where they tell you everthing you need to know about the school twice. But it was all very helpful all the advisor's are were extremal helpful.

Year after year students push against Orientation to make it an easier, shorter, more entertaining experience and the Orientation staff push back by saying there are certain things they absolutely have to tell you and do you realize how much work they put into it? Which they do… they're up since 5 or 6 o'clock and there all day. I have a couple of friends who were Orientation leaders too and that job is no cakewalk by any means. They all said it's a great job though and it really opens your eyes about the school.
Back to Orientation… from what I've seen, the Athletics presentation has grown in some directions and valleyed in others. I'm going to talk to them about it. For instance last year, Smitty called out anyone wearing a shirt from a different school and then had a prOWLer/cheerleader walk over with an FAU shirt and demand they put it on over the heretical shirt. That was an awesome thing and we didn't do it last time, possibly because we don't have the shirts now.
The fight song didn't go over well because they handed out the sheets but didn't demonstrate the rhythm, so the music started and the cheerleaders were like, "We'll FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT" and everybody in the audience was like, "mmrrr mmrr mrr mrr for FAU…" Honestly, they don't expect the freshmen to jump up and down with excitement over this… it's just to expose you to the words and music. You'll get into it at games.
The video is definitely better… for the people here, it's the one recently posted online with the giant FAU letters scrolling across the screen as Harmon leaps over the USF guy, etc. Some of the chants they taught are weird… "F-A-U Florida Atlantic Let's Go Gooooo Owls" or something? We don't actually do that. The fight song, "Ref you suck!", "Marco! Polo!", "Ruuuuuuuuuusty!" and "Let's go Owls" with the clapping are all ones that we do. Of course the Dirty Birds guys add in their own, like "Your mother hates you!" or when USF came to town and we yelled "OVER-RATED!"
hahaha, the USF dudes were sooo mad.
We should probably think up some better FIU chants though because they were blasting us on their board about using the Ole Ole Ole FIU is MIGHTY GAY one.

They just past out a couple of panfilts concerning the band but i know that my high school had posters around the school talking about trying our for the fau band or the school of music or something.FAUfasho said
I never went to orientation because I went out of town, lol. I had to fight an advisor to miss, I got lucky though. I want to be an orientation leader, and I would have, but I came home for the summer. One of my friends wanted to be an orientation leader and she said thats its a really intense thing to get into. I'd love to do it though, or be a tour guide too. I'm just curious, but does the band ever get mentioned? I'm sure many people don't know we even have a band.

We'd need to manipulate a clip to have Christopher Walken say "I have a fever and the only prescription is… MORE OWL BELL" which isn't tough… OwlRadio can do it… even if we don't go forward with shirts or actual owl bells, I think we should consider making that clip.
