LAKELAND, Fla., Dec. 11, 2007 Florida Atlantic University (FAU) and Publix Super Markets, Inc. are launching an educational program that includes classroom lessons and a behind-the-scenes store tour. On Thursday, Dec. 13, third-grade students from Beacon Cove Elementary will explore the Publix GreenWise Market store at Legacy Place in Palm Beach Gardens to learn about recycling, energy conservation, water conservation, composting, and pollution prevention.
The program targets third-grade students and supports the Florida Sunshine State Standards for science, math, language arts and social sciences. FAU and Publix developed the lessons, which include vocabulary and other skills covered on the FCAT.
