Question about Murphy's in Boca (Thursday night)

So i got this little flyer thing today talking about how it's such a great college party place.  I went there on a Thursday night a few weeks back right before spring break and NOOOO one was there.  What really ticked me off is that i had to shell out 10$!! just to get in the place!  Anyway, is this place actually worth going to, did i go on the wrong Thursday night?  Or is there a better option?

"right before spring break" might have been your problem. I remember around Spring Break I was out with friends and Boca seemed a little deserted. I would try again.

Just gotta hit each place on College Night (i.e. Irishmen on Monday).  A better option? Try Scoop. The three places people always hit up are Murphy's, Scoop, and the Irishmen. Bru's Room on Hillsboro is awesome too… last time I was there on a Friday and they had a good college crowd. Occasionally I'll hear about something at the SABA Lounge in… Mizner? I think that's where it is. Haven't been there yet. They're opening a new bar near Scoop/Boardriders that's all wood interior. It's called The Lodge. Looks nice. Hope they have a College Night. They'd be dumb not to.

If none of that works for you and you're willing to drive the ~20 minutes, you can head down to America's Backyard in Ft.Lauderdale next to Revolution Live. I heard that Automatic Slims at the Hard Rock is good too.

Murphy's was the place to be on thursday when I was there, but that was a few years ago.  Also, my buddy Mike and Bryan used to play guitar up there, but I know they don't play anymore.  Spring break may have been the problem too, but that place was usually empty till around 10 or so, then it  got packed.

Re: Question about Murphy's in Boca (Thursday night)

Murphy's was THE PLACE to be on Tuesday nights when I was in school. And for those over 21, Murphy's wasn't bad on Thursdays.

But within the last year, Murphy's and long-time promoter (over six years) Marshall Sklar split ways. I don't know if that has anything to do with it.

If you love kareoke and a laid back, small-bar atmosphere, Holloway's is great on Tuesdays and Saturdays. You have to be 21 to get in though.

Unless there's another Automatic Slims in the Hard Rock the one I know of is in Riverfront. Dicey Riley's is the bar in the Hard Rock, the rest are mainly clubs. I'm out dating myself but I know there's others on here who used to go to No Way Jose back in the day on Thursday nights. That place was rockin. When I first came down here it used to be Surf Cafe for nickel drafts and Nippers for $1 pitchers

It was No Way Jose's until the fall of 2002 - about Octoberish. Then it changed to Crabby Jack's.

Haha, man you just dated youself horribly.  A) They just opened an Automatic Slims at the Hard Rock a few months back.  B) Dicey Rileys is in Riverfront its Murphy's Law that is at the Hard Rock C) No Way Jose's….LOL, that was big 7 years ago…that place became Crabby Jacks and is now shut down D) I think Surf Cafe shut its doors in 2002 E) Nippers is still the place to go to make mistakes at 5 a.m. but the pitchers are more than $1 these days.

Dicey Rileys and Murphy's Law I always get those confused. Wow, I had no idea they opened up an Automatic Slims at Hard Rock. Thought the only one was in Riverfront. That one still there?

Don't feel too bad Jab,  I had a lot of good times at no way jose's, and Surf cafe for weds. reggae nights.  Nippers was good for the after hours stop, although by that time I usually had no idea where I was or what I was drinking. ;D
