Owls Avoid Sweep; Down Green in 12 Innings
FAU jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the third as Amber Barton homered to center field, knocking in teammate Ambar Jones.
North Texas took the lead in the sixth on three hits and a fielding error 3-2. But FAU would return the favor in the bottom half of the inning when Christine Houghtaling scored on a North Texas error.
UNT had the go ahead run on base in the top of the ninth when Rebecca Waters led off the inning with a double to left, but Kat Stauffer retired the next three batters in order to end the inning.
Brandies was placed on second to start the bottom of the tenth, when Cari Curfman sacrificed her over to third. Rose Gressley then came on to pinch hit and singled to second, allowing Brandies to score the winning run.
The Owls, who sit at 18-17 overall, and 1-2 in Sun Belt play, next take on South Alabama March 31st at 5:00PM EST in the first of a three game series in Mobile, AL.
