Softball Season Ends With 5-1 Loss to North Texas
Owls Finish With 28-26 Record
Florida Atlantic lost to North Texas 5-1 in an elimination game of the 2010 Sun Belt Conference tournament on Friday.
The Mean Green scored three runs in the bottom of the second, two coming on a homerun to left center by Renae Bromley. They added two more in the third inning on Lisa Johnson's homerun, to make the score 5-0.
Amber Barton relieved Taylor Fawbush and shut down NT the rest of the game, allowing just two hits and no runs in four innings.
FAU’s only run came in the top of the sixth on Jessica Myers’ second homerun of the tournament.
Florida Atlantic ends the season with a 28-26 record, and have never had a losing season in 16 years under Joan Joyce.

Barton was impressive in two pitching appearances at the tournament, throwing a complete game six-hitter in a tough 1-0 loss to eventual champion Louisiana-Lafayette, then throwing four scoreless innings in relief in a 5-1 loss to North Texas. She finished the season with a 2.27 ERA and ends her FAU career in the top-ten in career wins, innings pitched and strikeouts.
