It wasn't so much the offense that counted on Friday night as the Owls came away with a 1-0 win over Furman (4-4-0) at FAU Soccer Stadium before a crowd of 229 fans.
Rather, it was Owls' goalie Ashley Lantes' 14 save performance despite a blistering 24 total shot attack from the visiting Paladins. Conversely, Florida Atlantic only mustered seven shot attempts overall.
But it would be good enough to improve to 4-3-0 on the year, as Allison Griffin scored the match winner for the Owls in the 14th minute of the first period off a feed from Meghan Brown.
The team will have a full week off before taking on conference opponent Arkansas State next Friday in Jonesboro. Match time is 5:30 PM EST.

“I earned an honor for just doing my job,” said Lantes. “The victory was a team effort since the goalkeeper’s success relies so heavily on the defenders doing their job well. So, really, this was a team honor, and I’m taking that approach.”
