COLUMBIA, Mo.

Mizzou soccer Head Coach Bryan Blitz has announced the addition of Brian Dooley…to the Tiger coaching staff. Dooley will serve as associate head coach.

"We are excited to have coach Brian Dooley," Blitz said. "His vast head coaching experience over the last 18 years, being in national championship and NCAA scenarios will be a big benefit. Anyone with his experience is going to help us continue to our goal of being the SEC Champion and also the national champion."

Dooley brings over 24 years of college coaching experience to Mizzou, including the last 14 seasons as head coach at Florida Atlantic. With the Owls, Dooley accumulated a career record of 139-113, including seven 11-plus win seasons. He led the squad to Atlantic Sun Conference regular season titles in 2002, 2003 and 2005 and the 2005 team also claimed the Atlantic Sun Tournament title to earn the program's first-ever NCAA Tournament berth. That season, Dooley was honored as the Atlantic Sun Coach of the Year.

The following year, Florida Atlantic's first in the Sun Belt Conference, the Owls led all Division I teams in shutout percentage (.762), holding opponents scoreless in 16 of 21 matches.

Before his time at FAU, Dooley spent nine seasons at Barry (Fla.) University, as both head coach (1994-99) and assistant coach (1990-94). The Lady Bucs accumulated a record of 53-12-4 in his four seasons as head coach, including a trip to the NCAA Division II national championship game in 1995. While an assistant at Barry, the team earned the 1992 and 1993 Division II national titles.

Dooley played collegiately at Florida International and was a midfielder on FIU's 1982 NCAA Division II national championship team. He began his coaching career as an assistant women's coach at FIU (1986-1990).

Dooley received a bachelor's degree in secondary education from Nova Southeastern University in 1987. He and his wife, Marie, are the parents of three boys: Sean (23), Connor (20) and Ciaran (13).

"I am grateful to Bryan Blitz, Mike Alden, Tim Hickman, Joe Scogin and the staff for giving me this incredible chance to be a part of the Missouri family," Dooley said. "It was apparent to me during this process that Missouri has everything in place for success on the field and in the classroom. I am looking forward to the challenge of competing in the SEC and contributing to our first championship."

From what I saw on tv when FAU played N. Texas in the Belt playoffs - no loss! We looked like a fair at best hs team - ZERO chance of ever scoring on them and the D not much better in the loss! GOTTA get MUCH better, especially with the move up to CUSA!
