Men's Soccer: FAU Ties Manhattan
The Owls (2-2-1) fell behind 1-0 in the 64th minute after Manhattan’s Nick White tallied his first goal of the season. However, in the 79th minute, sophomore Darnell King would tie the game at 1-1 with his second goal of the season off an assist from senior Jordan Kelly. King scored the game-tying goal after coming off the bench for the first time this season. The Tampa, FL native had started the first four games at forward for the Owls prior to Friday night.
Owls’ goalkeeper Jeremy Crumpton turned in another solid performance in net as the freshman tallied four saves. Jaspers’ goalkeeper Joseph Lorenz also had a strong game with 10 saves including five during the overtime periods.
Despite the draw, FAU dominated most of the game as they outshot Manhattan 22-8 during regulation and 9-2 during overtime. The Owls also held the edge in corner kicks and fouls committed.
Florida Atlantic will be back in action on Sunday morning at 11 a.m. when they continue play in the UCF Fall Classic against Houston Baptist.
