Men's Soccer: Owls Still Winless in MAC; Fall to Buffalo 5-3
The Bulls (6-9-1, 1-4-0) took an early first half lead when Rich Wilson pounded a shot past FAU keeper Ciro Martinez in the 5th minute to put Buffalo on top 1-0. Wilson would strike again five minutes later on almost the exact same play to tally his second goal of the night and give the Bulls a swift 2-0 advantage. The assists on both goals were credited Kieron Gradwell.
Buffalo continued to apply pressure to the Owl defense throughout the first half with two more goals to make the halftime score 4-0.
The Owls (4-9-2, 0-5-0) responded offensively in the second half and got on the board in the 60th minute when Darnell King tallied his team leading fifth goal of the season. King received a pass from teammate Ali Gueye outside the 18-yard box and struck a perfectly placed shot past Buffalo’s keeper into the top-right corner to make the score 4-1.
After another Buffalo tally made it 5-1, King was able to respond with his second goal of the night and 6th of the season off a beautiful feed from Alex Yanovych. The assist for Yanovych was the senior’s first point of the season.
FAU would cap off the scoring with 11 seconds remaining in the game when Jose Guerra ripped a shot past Buffalo’s keeper to make the final score 5-3.
The Owls will be back in action next Saturday afternoon when they wrap up their regular season schedule on the road against Bowling Green. Kickoff is set for 12 pm.
