Volleyball drops all four matches at Radisson-UCF Invitational

The FAU volleyball team lost both of its matches at the Radisson-UCF Invitational on Friday.

FAU rallied valiantly from a 2-0 deficit against North Florida in its first match of the day, but ultimately fell in five sets. After dropping the first two sets, the Owls used a 12-1 run that included two kills and a block assist by Kristyna Dzmuranova on their way to a 25-18 win in the third set.

UNF had a 20-16 lead late in set four, but FAU rallied to the set at 20. After a Kaley Read kill, the Owls took five of the next six points to win the set 25-22. Nicole Gerig served FAU to an early 3-0 lead in the fifth set, but the Ospreys took the lead and closed on a 6-3 run to win the set and match.

The first set against Depaul went back and forth and was tied at 23 when back-to-back kills by Isabelle Arboleda and Krystena Castro gave FAU the set. The second set was also close but Depaul used a 9-1 run to close out the set and tie the match. The Blue Demons built a nine point lead in the third set and took the lead in the match 25-16. Depaul had a 17-12 lead in the fourth set and was able to hold off the Owls 25-20 to take the match.

Anne Vaughan had 24 kills on the day to lead the Owls. FAU returns to the court on Saturday for Day Two of the Radisson-UCF Invitational. They play host UCF at 1 p.m. before playing Jacksonville at 5:30 p.m.
