Volleyball: FAU Loses to Troy in Five Sets

Despite four Owls posting double-digit kills, the Florida Atlantic University volleyball team fell to Troy in five sets on Saturday.  Krystena Castro led FAU with 18 kills, followed by Ivana Stanojevic (15), Kristyna Dzmuranova (14) and Georgia Robinson (12).

The Owls (3-8, 2-1 Sun Belt) trailed late in the first set but rallied to tie the set at 24, before Troy put down two straight kills to take the set. FAU led by three points late in the second set and Troy pulled within one on two occasions, but a Robinson kill clinched the set to tie the match. The third set was tied at 21 before FAU used a 4-2 run to take a two sets to one lead.

Troy held a 13-11 lead in the fourth set, and used a 7-3 run on the way to tying the match at two sets each. In the final set, the Trojans pulled away early and were able to hold off a late rally by FAU to take the set 15-11.

FAU hosts Middle Tennessee State on Friday, October 2 in their home opener. The match is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start.
